The gods walk among us. And they just might steal your soul… or your heart.
I thought I’d survived everything life could throw at me. All I wanted was to keep my distance from the criminals I work for and get my little brother out of the hell that is our mother’s house.
Then I died and woke up to four stunningly hot gods telling me I’m now a valkyrie.
Sly, sharp Loki. Jovial but ferocious Thor. Dreamily compassionate Baldur. Grim and secretive Hod. They all have something to teach me. And around them, my walls start to crack.
But the gods didn’t summon me just for kicks. Their king is missing, and they need me to find him. The first three valkyries they sent on the job never made it back.
More power is awakening in me than I could ever have imagined—and the gods’ enemies are more devious than even they knew. It’s going to take every trick in the book for me to save myself, my brother, and these divine men who’re getting under my skin in the most alluring way.
I’m Aria Watson, and Valhalla ain’t seen nothing yet.
*Claimed by Gods is the first full-length novel in a medium-burn reverse harem urban fantasy series. This action-packed, heart-wrenching ride gives you a kickass heroine, four irresistible gods, and Norse mythology like you’ve never seen it before.*
Review
Claimed by Gods was a very interesting book. Aria, the main character is simply fantastic. She is a very strong woman and very funny when telling her story, although she does not seem like a good person at first, as the story progresses and you get to know her, you can understand that she only did what was necessary to survive.
I love that the book is told by more than one character, because it allows us to know better the 4 gods. This is one of the things that helped me take off the image of Thor and Loki from Avengers XD.
Baldur and Hod were completely unknown to me, but they are very interesting and completely opposite characters. When I finished reading the book, my curiosity won and I did a little research on Norse mythology and now I can not wait to know what is the unforgivable thing that Hod did to Baldur.
The relationship between the gods and Ari begins when they teach her how to use the valkyrie powers that each of them gave to her, so the personality of each of the characters is presente one by one, being my favorite definitely Hod.
The story is very quick to read and has a good thread that keeps you interested in the story till the end, which has a too good turn that leaves you anxious to know what will happen next.
The only problem I had with this book was with the romance. Most of the relationships are well formed and felt real, but I do not like the idea that Ari was interested in the 4 gods and even less that the 4 are interested in her, this doesn’t sound believeble to me . Although it is possible that this has a good explanation in the following books and I’m just getting ahead of the facts.
Anyway, I think it’s a completely recommendable book, with solid characters and full of action, humor, romance, intrigue and I even some tears near the end. I didn’t know it was a reverse harem when I started reading this book and I do not like this style but the story captured me and I will read the next part anyway. However, I do not recommend it if someone is overly sensitive because the story of Aria is really hard and there are many shocking facts in it, but they are not presented in the story all at once, so they are easier to cope with and and they only increase my affection for her.

Teenage artist Amy Love feels someone in the room with her, even if she can’t see them—the goosebumps and hair prickles on her neck don’t lie. The most popular boy in school finally asks her out and now a ghost is following her on the date? So unfair.
Finally unable to take it anymore, Amy confronts her invisible stalker only to have him jump into her body to communicate with her. He’s Jonathan Miller, the teenage son of a famous cartoonist, who was in a recent car crash. Jonathan has somehow lost touch with the corporeal world and needs Amy’s help.
In order to get her privacy back, Amy teams up with Jonathan to find out what went wrong for him. She’s the only one he can count on and, as they search for answers, he turns out to be the one person she can trust. Before too long, their friendship deepens and so do other feelings. But how can she be falling for a boy she’s never really seen and maybe never will?
Review
Amy is an average teenager who lives with the feeling that nobody really “sees her” until she finds someone who can. The only problem is that if she wants to keep seeing him they will need to find him a new body.
An entertaining and fast-paced book that I really enjoyed from beginning to end.
The only critic I have is that the protagonists fell in love way too fast. Also, it reminded me a lot to a movie but it never gave the vibe of a copy so it was fine.
In resume, I strongly recommend this book and I really enjoyed reading it. I don’t really like the name “Zombie Love” as I don’t feel it fits the story as “See Me” does. Although I do love the “Zhost” concept.

When a new witch threat rises, only Hunter Astley can stop them…
In the face of dark magic and evil witches, a secret witch-hunting society works tirelessly to keep them at bay. The Malleus Maleficarum Council have strict rules and practises for eradicating magic. Due to their work, witches have been almost forgotten, relegated to myth; but rumours are starting to emerge of a new power that will throw the world into chaos.
As the only 7th generation witch-hunter, Hunter Astley is the best the MMC has to offer. With the help of his colleagues, it’s a race to track down this new threat and stop them… in any way he can.
Review
She raised a brow. “A witch-hunter named ‘Hunter’? How very original.”
Hunter (George) Astley was a witch-hunter, the best one actually. He was the only seventh generation in history, and that implied he was more powerful than the others. It seems, when you fight witches you start to absorb some of their power, which gave each generation of witch-hunters more abilities than the older one, but given their lifestyle, not lots of them had decendents.
Witches are an entirely different breed of human, at least one parent has to be a witch; you can’t become one by wanting it.
Hunter was on holiday in Venice, forced by his friend and partner James, a first generation witch hunter, for having a little rest from work. He was actually just getting bored when he felt the magic (one of the witch hunters abilities) and found a young lady about to be sacrificed in a ritual for giving witches more power. He saved the girl, kill the men witch and got the other two witches to surrender and accept their magic being bound.
Hunter sighed, even witch-hunting required paperwork in this crazy modern world – but thankfully Hunter could shift all that onto James’ workload. He preferred the more active part of his job than this paperwork. And James did a tediously good and thorough job of it.
The rescued lady’s name was Sophie, a beautiful but excessively cold woman that decided not to get out of this new world she just found and asked to be part of the MMC. It seems this wasn’t so weird, lots of the rescued asked for joining, but most ended up in paperwork in the office. But Sophie wanted to be a hunter, and she didn’t give up until she was accepted as a first generation witch-hunter.
Sophie has an opinion… not so popular among the witch-hunters. She can’t believe that all the witches are evil just because they are witches. Besides, the witch-hunters used their amulets and their acquired abilities that were not that different from magic. However, she decides to stay in the team.
Hunter watched Sophie walk away from him and move up the main staircase, heading straight for her room. He didn’t want her to be alone; he told himself that she shouldn’t be alone after such a day. But a part of him knew better. Oh god, he was in trouble.
Hunter, James and Sophie find out that a Shadow Witch had rose. A very rare breed whose magic powers are unlimited. There’s only register of two Shadow Witches in history, one was murdered by Hunter’s grandfather.
After facing her, it gets clear that witch-hunter are no opponent for her and it depends on Hunter and his seventh generation abilities to defeat her and save humanity.
“Oh, that is bad. Did the Shadow Witch give a bad guy speech?” “Oh yes, very impressive and clichéd – shame you missed it.”
For now, I’ve liked the story a lot, it’s a totally recommendable book. I’ll keep reading the saga and hope the next ones are as good or even better.
I loved Hunter. Typical lead of a fantasy book that is too good to be real and that can make a thousand mistakes, but as you are in his mind you can’t stop loving him. This is not a complaint, I love this kind of characthers ?.
He could fight, kill if need be, but he couldn’t face sorrow. Not even when one of his best friends needed his comfort.
I really like Sophie too. I hope we will know more about her in the next books, but I will anyway read her prequel. I really want to understand what made her the way she is.
James… I actually liked this character and feel he is important for the story itself, but I can’t stop picturing him as Sherlock Holmes’s Watson ?. Thinking better, Hunter could be this Holmes too.
Something I really liked of this book is how they laugh about clichés.
How very British; having a nice cup of tea whilst conversing about witches.
I love books that make me laugh without losing the emotion of the story.
“Look, just because we’re sharing a bed, doesn’t make this a girly sleepover.”
[su_spoiler title=”Here is a little spoiler, predictable, but read this on your own risk.” icon=”chevron-circle”]Honestly, for me it was too predictable that Sophie was a witch, until she was “possessed” and I started doubting it a little. Anyway, this didn’t diminish my desire to read the book.[/su_spoiler]
PD: I’m really trying to like the cover but no… it still freaks me out ?

For her, it’s just a way of life… until now. When their high-speed chase ends in a crash, the initial shock is expected. What happens next isn’t. Everything Mel believes about her life is called into question when her grandmother uses strange magic to transport them from the scene and is met by a new threat.
Stunned by the earth-shattering turn of events, Mel faces an impossible task and must rely on the Guardians for help, but distinguishing friend from foe is a challenge she may not be equipped to handle until she can embrace her magic abilities.
Will she learn to control her abilities and find her grandmother before it’s too late?
Review
*Mini review for a mini story*
Mel has lived her whole life running away of an inexistent danger, as her grandma seems to have lost her mind. This is until they are caught by the danger itself and Mel understands that maybe her grandma wasn’t crazy after all, but never tell her all the truth.
Mel gasped, unable to believe her eyes. Since when did her gran use a sword? The only weapon Mel had ever seen her wield was an old-fashioned broom.
This book is a little story of Mel before she got to the Everlight Academy. Really good book although a little predictable if you already read Everlight Academy #1. I enjoyed it even thought it was extremely short.
Had she imagined it? What had that strange light been? It couldn’t have come from her. She could barely use a microwave. How the heck could she throw light from her hands?

Thirty women. Three competitions. One prince. It’s everything a fae girl could dream of. Everyone, that is except, except for Adalina.
For Ada, being Chosen would mean giving up her right to rule the Court of Flames on her own. But, when the invitation letter arrives and her parents give her a choice between participating in the Claiming Ceremony or losing her place as the rightful heir, she must figure out a way to be eliminated from the competition without her parents noticing.
Escaping the competition with her title intact will be a trial in and of itself, but avoiding falling in love may prove to the greatest challenge of all.
Dark Masquerade is part of Once Upon a Fairy Tale Night: A Collection of Fairy Tale Retellings.
Review
Ada is a fae heir to the Court of Flames. She’s completely happy with her life and everything seem perfect until she receives an invitation to this year’s Claiming Ceremony.
The Claiming Ceremony was an annual event among the six fae courts. Each year, a prince would become the next Claimer and be given twelve potential suitors. From these, they would select their eternal mate. Ada found the tradition to be antiquated and downright diminishing of her status as the heir to the Court of Flames. And, so far, she had been able to avoid being selected as a suitor. Until now.
Ada not only has no interest on finding a partner in such an old-fashioned a ceremony, but being selected would mean leaving her home forever. Pressured by her parents she is forced to participate, determined to withdraw in the second round. If by some miracle she’s not eliminated first.
However, this year’s ceremony takes place at the Court of Stones and Darian’s home. Darian was her childhood friend, being only a couple of years older than Ada, they shared countless adventures… Until the accident.
Twelve years ago, Ada, unable to control her powers, started a fire that directly affected Darian. She was not allowed to see or contact him after that.
Since she is forced to travel to the Court of Stones, she decides to take this opportunity to apologize for the damage she did. And find out if he really didn’t want to hear from her again.
Ada shares room with other three faes and meets Dara, a non-royal that has been invited to participate in the Ceremony and wasn’t dying for being there either. She has been force to participate for economic problems as, while you keep in the competition, suitors received money as compensation for her time.
But all her plans get destroyed with the change of rules. Being the hundredth Ceremony there wouldn’t be just one prince Claimer, but six. One of them was Darian… Other was High Prince Easton, who would pick the queen of the six courts. Also, for keeping the participants identities hidden, everyone would use a mask. Finding Darian would be almost impossible, as she couldn’t even remember the colour of his eyes. Now she needed to focus on not catching the attention of the princes.
New failure, the first activity from the Ceremony was a Ball. One of the princes, with a dragon mask, asked her to dance and got her melted in his arms. She had hope he was Darian, but whether or not he was, Ada was clearly in trouble
She could make it thought the night without falling in love, couldn’t she?
Now, unable to get the dragon masked man from her head, and having found a note from Darian saying they needed to talk, the decision of withdrawing from the ceremony wasn’t so simple anymore, especially as withdrawing implies you could never search for an eternal mate again, but she was not willing to abandon her home, not even for Darian.
This book is part of a collection of fairytales retelling, and really feels like one.
This is exactly the kind of romance I like. I got really impressed on how I fell in love with Ada and Darian’s couple in so little time. My only problem with the book was it’s too short (I know is short complementary story for the principal saga, but I liked so much the leads so it felt even shorter). Also, I know that in the “official” saga the protagonist is Dara and, even thought it’s clear Ada and Darian will appear, I loved that much this couple that I’m sad they don’t have a whole own saga. Anyway I’m completely into the plot and want to know what happens next, so I will look forward the first book from The Dark Claiming (Still no date for it ?).
PD: I’m totally in love with Dark Masquerade’s cover ?.

Review
I want to give this book 1 star, that’s how angry I am. I was reading happily when, out of nowhere, it says “continued in Fae Born”.
That’s right my friends. This book ends in a damned cliffhanger.
Normally I wouldn’t be that upset, but ages have passed since I read a book that ended in a cliffhanger and the saga wasn’t complete already. Now I have to suffer until the next book comes out (goes to a corner to cry).
But well, I can’t give it 1 star because it deserves the 5. I couldn’t stop reading.
Human beings were about to destroy their world (tell me something new) and the fae world along, as both worlds are connected. Faes helped to save the human world and then disappeared.
Silvy Eldry is a faeling, that being half human half fae. She was abandoned after she was born in a place called Eldry Woods, that’s where her last name came from. Even though she was a half-blood, her only non-human quality were her decorative wings, as they couldn’t even fly. She passed through uncountable foster houses, but she was never well-received. At age 17, she lives with the Carter’s, two drug addicts that use all the money they get from taking care of Silvy in Dust, some kind of Fae drug. Silvy doesn’t get any care from them, not even clothes or food. She’s just used as a mule for going to buy their drug. They even destroyed her wings. At least she just needs to resist till she become 18 and gets to start her own life.
At school, she doesn’t get a breath either. Ava, one of her classmates, is on charge of making each of her days even more miserable.
Ava said she didn’t know how someone could stand to live the life of a faeling. I wouldn’t give up. My life might suck but one day it would be better. I would get to live life on my terms and not be pushed around by anyone any longer.
When it seems her life couldn’t get any worse, Silvy finds out she has a fae stalker following her and that he has attacked Ava and Ron, the drug dealer, for her defence. Or at least that’s what it seems like, as the other option would be that Silvy has magic and that was impossible, she has been tested all her life for being sure.
Now fearing humans would lock her up for having magic. Her only “friend” Freya, the librarian, tells Silvy she has an all-included spot at a fae school, Everlight Academy.
There she finds out indeed she has magic. Although she’s completely unable to control it. Also, she finds out her stalker is actually the prince of the Seelies, “light” faes. And that Freya is not being completely honest with her.
How could a forest be inside a castle? That made no sense. Then again, no part of today had made any sense to me so far. All of it was just a jumbled mess of confusion.
Now Silvy finally has a chance of a good life, but for that she needs to prove the Fae elders council, including Tristan’s mother, that she’s not a treat. Something that will not be as easy as it seems.
Geez, good job, Silvy. You pissed off the council Fae elders and a prince all in one day.
For me this is a pretty original story. Not predictable at all and hilarious. I tend to highlight in the e-books some sentences I like and the truth is that I felt like doing a resume for school… I highlighted all the book ?.
I loved Silvy from the beginning. She has a horrible life, yet she’s incredible funny when she tells her story and I love she never gives up.
You should never think about what-ifs — I’d learnt that growing up. I couldn’t change the past. No one could.
I also loved that the book doesn’t revolve around Tristan. He is an important character, and pretty interesting too, but Silvy has more things to do that just drool for him.
Typical male. They never did anything they were supposed to do.
Silvy has to learnt how to use her newly discovered magic, and also learnt how to trust in somebody else. But, if all her hard life wasn’t enough, the only person she could trust has been hiding things from the very beginning.
The only real critic I could make this book is that the story ends without any trails mentioned in the synopsis actually occurring, which make me feel the synopsis is more for the saga that this particular book.
However, 5/5, Wonderful start for a saga, excellent descriptions y perfect story for romance lovers that don’t like pink novels. This makes me think of Jennifer L. Armentrout style, one of my favourite authors.

Galen loved dreaming up stories, until he was drawn into a nightmare.
An irresistible Longing drags Galen to an ancient vault where, long ago, the gods of Order locked Chaos away. Chaos promises power to the one destined to liberate it, but Galen’s dreams warn of dark consequences.
He isn’t the only one racing to the vault, however. Horace, the bully who lives to torment Galen, is determined to unleash Chaos–and he might know how to do it.
Galen’s imagination always got him into trouble, but now it may be the only thing that can prevent Horace from unraveling the world.
Review
Honestly it was quite difficult for me to read this book, but not because I was not caught up in the story or dislike the writing, but because my native language is Spanish, this book is in English and Glen, the author, uses many words that I did not know. At least it helped me to practice ?.
For example, at first I had a hard time understanding what “Longing” meant, as I thought I was mistranslating it. However, the story gradually clears up.
The book begins with Lorre. A woman, mother of twins, who is desperately following her Longing. This takes her to a strange cave where she met a black-cloaked man named Kooris, a priest from Evil.
The cave turns out to be the “temple” of Chaos and Kooris is a kind of guardian who is responsible for killing everyone who is called to the cave. The priest traps Lorre’s mind in a mirror, causing her to drop three dices that she found on her way and that helped control her Longing. These fall with the figures of a stalactite, an hourglass and a child. Out of nowhere the cave fills up with water and then Lorre’s body freezes with a giant statue at her side and with the dices, out of Kooris’ reach.
Honestly up to here I didn’t understand anything XD. But going a little further everything starts to make sense. Let’s put ourselves in context.
At the beginning of everything there was the time of the Dreaming, without consistent forms or content, but which generated two fundamental concepts: Order and Chaos. Order could not bear not having structure, so it tried to direct the flows of the Dreaming and was expelled by it.
Outside the Dreaming, with a place that did allow structure, each of the ideas that formed Order became a god. Each of these sent a Gift to human beings, which allowed him to communicate with the high priest of his religion, in addition to attracting priests, people who belong to his temple. Among the gods were Charity, Evil, Good, Law, War, among many others.
War’s philosophy is to present an overwhelming force. An enemy must never have to hope to prevail. The battle should be over before it has begun.
When a Gift from Chaos falls from the sky, the gods decide to lock it in a cave that can only be opened by them, to ensure that no one can access it. However, legend states that the Child of Chaos will arrive, get the gift, and make the decision to destroy it or free it to the world.
Now, for a person to become a priest of a temple, he had to pass a test that proves he felt Longing for the Gift of that god. Those who did not feel any Longing were known as the faithless and had to pay tribute. In case of not having enough money they could be bought by some temple as workers (slaves).
Now that the context of the world is clear (hopefully), let’s get back to the story.
Six years after Lorre’s disappearance. Her 12-year-old twins, Galen and Myra, prepare to take the Temple of Charity test. It is clear to everyone that Myra is meant to be a priestess of Charity, but Galen only goes to try his luck. In his mind he dreams of being a hero like those in the stories he wrote with his mother, instead of a simple fisherman like his father.
“Some rules stink. Actually, most do. They’re always making everything worse…” said Galen
Indeed, Myra is accepted as a priestess, but her brother is not. However, he begins to realize that he seems to have a Longing for a religion.
Eventually Galen understands that he is being called to the “temple” of Chaos and that his mother probably lived the same before him.
“Yes, your mind has bright, amusing notions tucked away.”Nobbin’s muffled voice rose from under the carpet of craziness at his feet. “But now your hidden darkness is also free to play.”
Meanwhile, Horace has become a priest of Evil. Horace was friends with Galen when they were little, but when his mother died he changed dramatically and became a bully who made Galen’s life impossible whenever he could. From his way of being, it was very logical for him to become a priest of Evil, however, he realized that he was still feeling another Longing. After learning the legend of Chaos, Horace understood that he was being called by his Gift, and he set out to get it at all costs, as the legitimate Child of Chaos.
In a world where the gods cannot directly intervene and the priests fully follow the orders of the high priests of their respective temples, no one is able to foresee Horace’s actions. Galen and his group must stop him at all costs, but the truth is that Galen is not a hero, he is just a boy with an overactive imagination that does nothing but get him into trouble. What can he do?
Your imagination is who you are. Everything in those dreams comes from you, even the dark, even your fear.
So far I feel like I already told more than I should have, but I couldn’t find a way to describe the story without explaining the context of it.
This book surprised me a lot. The construction of the universe is amazing. Now I know that Glen works in video games and the truth is that his knowledge of fantastic worlds shows. Reading it was like watching a movie. The characters themselves are well-developed, however, Horace’s personality has the most development. You don’t get to know characters like Gusset or Myra as much as I would have liked, but I suppose there is time in the rest of the saga. Anyway I am not, it is not something that makes the story less interesting.
The story is much cruder than I imagined. Knowing that the protagonists were around 12 years old, I imagined a lighter story, however it deals with quite serious topics, there are quite a few sadistic deaths and murders. Although this does not monopolize the story, but it seems important for me to warn about it.
He might only be a scared kid. He certainly was no hero. But he couldn’t let Gusset die while he did nothing.
Something that I found very interesting is the description of Chaos, in addition to the theory that excess of Order becomes oppressive. Apparently this is a recurring theme in other authors but it is the first time that I see it and I really liked it.
Finally, I highly recommend this book. It was a very entertaining read. Also, I love stories that include gods and this one is very original to me. In addition to magical artifacts. I will be waiting for the next books in the saga.
For me this book deserves 4.5 / 5 stars. I do not give it 5 simply because I feel that something was missing, however, the more I think about it the more I convince myself that this happened because of my difficulty reading it and not because of the book itself.
You can see the effort and love that Glen put into this story, in addition to the fact that he has some drawings inside, such as the dice, which are made by his (very talented) son.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear while the Lord Ruler reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, a divinely invincible leader. Only he’s not just planning the greatest heist in history, he’s plotting the overthrow of a divine despot. But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel’s plan looks like a long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life. Like him, she’s a half-Skaa orphan, but she’s lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.

This book is like putting together a 1000-piece puzzle. You start by having piece by piece the information. And you can join it little by little like when you put the edges together. However, as you get closer to the center of the puzzle it seems that you are still missing pieces to complete it.
Long ago the Lord Ruler saved humanity by destroying the Deepness. Unfortunately, power made him a tyrant leader. In a world where it rains ash, a strange mist appears at night, and things like flowers are just a legend.
The society is divided between nobles and skaa. The last are nothing more than slaves whose life has lack of importance. Vin is a somewhat different skaa. Fate wanted that instead of ending up working on a plantation, she would end up in a gang of thieves. Her greatest talent was her ability to stay invisible. That and her “luck”. A strange ability that allowed her to entice people to do what she wanted, but which, unfortunately, ran out very quickly each time. Anyway, it had earned her to become the amulet of the gang leader when he carried out his scams.
When one of these scams goes wrong. Vin meets Kelsier, the only survivor of the Pits of Hatshin and a Mistborn. He explains to Vin that her “luck” is actually allomancy, the ability to burn some metals for getting skills. Most allomancers can only burn one type of metal, but those Mistborns can use them all. Kelsier is the only Misting skaa in existence, or at least he was before Vin.
— The nail attacked me! Did that metal give life to objects? That would indeed be an incredible power. — The truth is that you attacked yourself.
Vin becomes part of the Kelsier gang, and joins his plan to overthrow the final empire and assassinate the Lord Ruler. The problem is, how do you murder a god? Unless that’s just a legend and the Lord Ruler is just a man after all. Everyone in the gang believes it’s an impossible mission, but they decide to accept it anyway.
Vin was beginning to understand that her old goal in life (to survive, without further ado) was worthless. There were many things she could do. She had been Reen’s slave; she had been a slave to Camon. She would also be Kelsier’s slave, if sooner or later that led to her freedom.
While Vin practices allomancy with Kelsier, her main task is to infiltrate the nobles, posing as Lady Valette at social gatherings, such as balls, to get information and spread rumors at her disposal.
Finally she realized why men were expected to help women out of the carriages. It wasn’t a silly custom after all: the clothes were silly.
The problem is that she caught the attention of Eland Venture, the only heir to Luthadel’s most powerful house. At least Vin isn’t fool enough to fall in love with a noble…
— Maybe it’s best if you avoid Venture entirely. Try to offend him or something. Give him a couple of those looks of yours. Vin looked at Kelsier. — That, that same look! — Kelsier said with a laugh.
From the beginning, Vin’s life was very hard. Her brother, Reen, rescued her from her mother after she murdered her younger sister. From that moment they became thieves and his brother was in charge of teaching her not to trust anyone, not even him. What was verified when he escaped and abandoned her as he always said he would do.
Once in the gang, Kelsier teaches Vin what it means to trust someone else, but also reminds her of what it feels like to be betrayed…
Kelsier looked at her for a moment, then smiled. — The first time we met, I could barely get you to say a few words. Now you’re giving me sermons.
An incredible start to a saga, full of action, romance, friendship, humor, madness. The truth is that it seems complete to me in every way. It’s been a long time since I found a book that would take you to a completely different world and that had such a good level of development of both the place and the characters and the type of “magic” of the story, because when Vin learns to use allomancy we have a complete class of its use and its scientific bases. All this in a didactic way, without getting boring despite the abundant descriptions.
In addition, the system of allomancy seems absolutely impressive and complete to me.
The only warning I will make is that there is a lot of blood. The constant battles in the story tend to be quite descriptive and bloody. However, I consider myself quite sensitive and it did not affect me.
I feel like I found one of those stories that is a real gem. That you can enjoy again and again. Or at least I hope so, I have only read the first one, and I am already too excited ?.
Bye bye ?

“Would you risk the fate of the world to save your child?”
She is an unwitting pawn.
He is an innocent player.
A game of hearts that will rock her world.
An incredible exchange that could save his.
And a love story that could transform everything.
Erin has one focus in life. Move forward. Never look back.
At the tender age of 15, Erin survived a horrific tragedy. Now, seven years later, in 2022, she has built a new life and a new family. One that she would do anything to protect. Which is exactly what her enemies are counting on.
Faced with another incredible out-of-this-world scenario Erin is forced to confront demons from her past. It is the only way she can save all that she loves from being destroyed by Tandro once again.
But sometimes what you think you are fighting for is not always what it seems…
Review
Sometimes the only way to move forward is to reach back through time.
This is the first time that a book surprises me like this. The first book was not at all my taste, despite the fact that the general plot caught my attention and it was well-developed. I liked the second book a lot more, but I felt it more realistic than I expected, and while Erin’s story captured me, this latest installment was totally on another level.
3 years have passed since Tiegal left and stayed on Earth. Atla’s government is weakened as the number of diamonds has decreased and people have begun to try forms of physical contact in a desperate attempt to obtain energy like Tiegal.
Parador (yep, again Parador) has a plan and controls Atla and her “sisters”, Indramia and Ochrani, to carry it out. Her plan is to use Tiegal’s Derado, which has been passed down from generation to generation and now has come into Erin’s hands in 2022.
Erin has become a 22-year-old woman, who has dedicated her life to eliminating sexual slavery, especially of minors. She is married and has a little 1-year-old son named Jack. The family that Erin fought so hard to keep together when she was 15, died in late 2015 in a car accident. She was the only survivor, but lost much of her memory.
After reading Reach, many of the things that happen in the beginning of the book make no sense. It feels like it was a separate novel, and they didn’t follow the same thread. I was even about to stop reading the book when I saw that Erin had married Kieran, the pedophile. Especially since he didn’t even change, he’s the same disgusting man he was back in 2015. But knowing that Erin doesn’t remember much of her past kept me reading in the hope that there was a powerful reason for them to be together. And I’m so glad I continued…
Jack is ill and the doctors cannot find out why. Erin is desperate until an offer comes from another world, in which they could save her son in exchange for her making an “exchange” (Déjà vu?) with Jovil. But Erin’s dreams constantly warn her to be careful of the doors she opens, and she knows that she opened the first door the moment she touched the auction necklace, and that the second one opened the moment she meets Jovil. Will she open the last door, knowing that it could mean the end of both worlds, to save her son?
Doors can break diamonds.
A story full of time travel, mind games and romance. There are so many questions that form in the book that I thought it would be impossible to answer all of them, but Naomi managed it and in an amazing way. All the pieces fit together into the ending, after one of the best twists I’ve come across in a book.
“The coup de foudre”. Her mum had always talked about this experience, that it can happen, but only to the lucky ones — the coup de foudre – the bolt of lightning: a love at first sight. The feeling that is such a shock to the system that your physical being can feel elevated, changed.
I almost forgot to mention that I feel I learned a lot while reading, because every time there is an explanation regarding diamonds it is very complete and scientific. And Erin’s analogy with diamonds is quite beautiful.
We always become stronger together.
In short, it’s been a long time since I felt so excited recommending a book, especially since I really didn’t have good expectations and was very surprised.

“What if the only way to save your family was to reach out to another world?”
They were a diamond family – unbreakable – nothing could loosen their bond. But that was before Tandro came into their lives.
Erin has grown up believing her family was indestructible. The one constant she could always rely on. But when an out-of-this-world scenario places her family in peril, it feels as though something, somewhere, is hell-bent on breaking them apart.
Between her little brother being sick with a mysterious illness, no one can cure, and her parents growing more distant by the day, Erin’s only sanctuary is the powerful older boy she likes, Kieran. But the bubble of attraction he keeps her under hides a dark secret.
Then one big mistake throws Erin’s already precarious situation completely upside-down and threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. Her only options to save herself and her family both seem impossible: reach out to a girl locked in another time or reach out to a girl from another world with remarkable powers.
But reaching out to the impossible may be the only thing that could save everything she values from breaking apart.
Review
Remember who you are, where you come from and what you can do.
I liked this book a lot more than the first one. Even thought its clear you need to read that one to understand the links in the story.
This time we follow Erin’s story, a 15-year-old girl in the year 2015. She and her family moved to London from the US a year ago. With a father in a high politic charge and a wonderful mother, together with a little brother with 13 years, they were the perfect family. Or at least they were until her brother got sick and all the attention from the family was turned to him.
“Erin, honey, as you’ve just heard, the word ‘diamond’ originates from the Greek :Adamas’, meaning ‘indestructible’. And that’s what we are. We are a diamond family, tightly bonded together like the atoms of carbon inside a diamond. Nothing can break us!”
Erin never complained about this because she thought it was the right decision. However, she inevitably began to feel alone. Especially when the dreams came back. Erin, and apparently her mother before her, had strange predictive dreams, showing her both past and future. However, lately dreams had turned into nightmares and always included a woman in them: Parador, Tiegal’s “sister”.
Erin’s escape was her boyfriend, who she kept hidden from her family for being older than she. (He was 28 years old. Disgusting pedophile!)
Everything collapses when Erin overhears her parents having a conversation with a strange man with a purple haze around him, who proposes them to save their son in exchange for Erin’s mother doing an “exchange” with him. Her parents accept, prompting Erin to make a very serious mistake. Unable to seek help from her very busy and now not-so-trustworthy parents, she accepts the help of Parador, who has now appeared in real life. But does she really plan to help her?
It is not such a fantastic book within everything. In the sense that Erin’s problems could happen in any family.
It’s really easy to empathize with Erin as she watches her family fall apart. She feels lonely and in her desperation for protection she ends up in the clutches of a man that she herself knows does not love her. Also, she must watch as her perfect parents start to show flaws, while dealing with the fact that her brother, her life partner, is fighting for his life.
The relationship between Erin and her mother is very moving. Even when Erin fails to communicate directly with her, they find a very nice way to communicate.
Although Erin’s problems make it a somewhat dense book, full of betrayals. It has a rather pleasant outcome. However, it seems important to me to mention that it includes many allusions to sex and adultery, in addition to Kieran’s psychological abuse of Erin. It does not have explicit content.
[su_spoiler title=”Here’s a little spoiler of the poem Erin makes for Kieran in her physics class: ‘Erin is an electron reacting to Kieran’, and that made me laugh hard, besides it explains very well the electrons behaviour. ?” icon=”chevron-circle”]
REACTION
Before you,
I was in the dark,
a tiny speck
orbiting around the hub.
And then you arrived,
a new energy,
a new light.
I reacted.
You made me jump.
I moved out of orbit.
I had no choice.
It was my reaction to you —
the one I was born to have.
I was excited;
I was out of control.
I went into a different state of being.
I lit up!
And then you left.
You took your light away.
It made me unstable.
You took me too far up.
I had no choice.
It was my reaction to you —
the one I was born to have.
There was only one place I could go.
I had to fall back…

A secret parallel universe. Shadow crossed lovers. Monsters in dark corners.
Every Thanksgiving Eve, reserved Jade Miller sees monsters in dark corners and hears voices in the shadows. She knows she’s different, even if her mother refuses to share the family secret. Nerdy Zander Stein has his whole life planned from top grades to law school, but he hasn’t prepared for Jade’s grasp on his heart.
When they learn that the government banishes criminals to a secret parallel universe, Jade believes her life as an average citizen is a lie. She struggles to understand where she belongs, but Zander is convinced they belong together. Whether Jade and Zander decide to join the banished criminals or help the authorities may cause families to split, relationships to break or Woodpine to come under siege.
Review
The book begins with Jade telling us about some shadows she sees through the corner of her eye or in the corners. No one else seems to see them so she starts thinking she’s crazy. At least until, in a crisis after chasing a shadow out of her classroom, Zanders followed her and seemed to also look at the floater, giving Jade hope of not being crazy.
Zanders is the nerdy boy in the class. He has excellent grades and a natural talent for debates. Talent that disappears every time he sees Jade and becomes unable to speak to her.
Zanders and Jade begin to approach but VERY slowly. Until Jade discovers that the truth of floating shadows is a parallel universe with which she’s directly related.
The book is actually written as a diary, but not only Jade’s. Many of the characters tell the story at some point, which makes it quite interesting.
While the book initially seems to be an ordinary love story, it is actually quite different in its development. The story happens almost only on Thanksgiving Eve, so each chapter picks up at least a year later. This leads to us going from a teenage story to a young adult story, which I didn’t expect, but which became quite interesting.
What I do find very funny is that everyone apparently sees the shadows and people usually ignore them, but Jade, her brother Bobby and her cousin Marcus suffer much of their life believing they are crazy instead talking to each other about it.
The paranormal part of the story felt quite irrelevant in the beginning. The shadows appeared, but they could all be crazy instead of there being something paranormal. However, near the end of the book it becomes more important and it’s likely that in the next installment it will become relevant.
For me this book deserves 4/5 stars because it is a different proposal and I enjoyed reading it quite a lot.

Review
I must confess I wanted to read this book for the cover, for some reason it caught my eye and I honestly didn’t even read the synopsis ?, even though if you look closely the face it’s kinda scary. Fortunately, it turned out to be a really good decision ?.
The book tells the story of Natalie, a Healer from Ismereld, one of the five isles with megaliths that somehow connect with a few people and give them some gifts. For the Healers this gift is the ability to “see” the disease in people’s bodies (Naming) and also activate healing herbs to enhance its effect.
Natalie has been in love with Healer Juliers Rayvenwood since he was her first Naming teacher. Even now, 5 years later she’s suffering as he has gone to war. But her childish infatuation put her in a bad situation when Jules comes back from war hurted and unable to use his Naming. Nat has to work with him from now on, and it seems like the man she liked disappeared in the war and returned a complete asshole in his place. Natalie is an amazing Healer, but she doesn’t have too much confidence about it, and Jules superiority certainly doesn’t help.
They must learn to deal with each other while they find a way to heal a mortal disease that is expanding in their isle.
This book caught my attention immediately. It’s really descriptive and it makes easy to “see” everything happening.
It’s so easy to relate with Nat that I got easily attached to her. And about Jules… he stressed me out but at the same time I love him. He gives a little of fun to the story.
Also, special mention to Jake, Nat’s dog for being the best dog ever. Just wanted to say it.
[su_spoiler title=”Here is a little comment about the end of the book so I’ll put it as a spoiler, although I don’t feel it affects if you read this before the book” icon=”chevron-circle”]I loved the ending of the book, but at the same time I was laughing really hard because it was such a movie ending. I could really picture Nataly in the boat with the wind in her hair and looking at the horizon. With the background music and the camera getting far from her.
[/su_spoiler]
In short, I totally recommend this book and will certainly read the rest of the saga. Even though it had some predictable moments, they all made sense for me. Like, they were things that needed to happen. Also, I loved Kate’s writing style because it had a lot of details without being overwhelming.
